PacNOG 19 conference & training for internet engineers in Pacific ...posted 28Nov16
PacNOG 19 starts today (Monday 28 Nov 2016) in Nadi Fiji, with over 60 network engineers from ISPs, Telecom networks, Banks, Education and Government networks from Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Cook Is, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Solomon Is.
With one day plenary conference and refresher courses followed by three breakout workshops of 4 days each, the week long PacNOG 19 continue to upkeep the intensiveness of the PacNOGs events as predecessor events, to upskill and provide hands-on, essential and advanced capacity building to internet network engineers in the Pacific. The workshops include lectures, tutorials, exchange, tests and labs.
The three 4 day workshops conducted at this PacNOG 19 included specialised topics on
1. Border Gate Control (BGP), and Peering, with extra half day IP Routing refresher
2. Network Monitoring and Management, with extra half day LINUX refresher, and
3. Security, with Incident Management and Response
PacNOG has been able to provide such training and capacity exposure through the partnerships of the following organisations:
and the support by the network operators from the Pacific.
Next year in 2017, PacNOG will target two training events PacNOG 20 and 21, around early July and Nov/Dec respectively and to rotate the venues around the key Pacific Island. Call for Hosts, and Notices for the events will be announced through its usual channels.
