TC Winston (TCW) now developed to Category 5 has now set its eyes on Fiji, with its path to cut through the Fiji group from the North Eastern Islands between the two main islands of Vanua Levu and Viti Levu, over the northern tip of Viti Levu through to the Yasawa group of islands, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday early morning.
This path will cover many rural and outer island communities as well the greater periurban and urban areas of the north west towns of the main island and tourist destinations, and with a foot print larger than the Fiji Group, winds of over 200km per hour and gusts close to 300km per hour close to the centre, everyone in Fiji braces for what could be its worst natural disaster. Lets hope for the best that it cuts through without too much damage and no loss of life.
TCW initially had entered the Tonga system but made a turnaround to Fiji. Tonga outer islands may have been impacted.
