Telecom Fiji appoints new can do executive management team...posted 15/11/05

Thursday 10th November 2005:   Following the recent appointments of Telecom Fijis Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Kapila Chandrasekera and General Manager Human Resources, Mr. Imo Sagoa, Telecom Fiji today announced additional members to the new can do Executive Management Team to lead the new TFL.

Mr. Chandra P Anuj has been appointed General Manager Networks. The new Network Strategic Business Unit will incorporate the Plan/Design/Build/Operate/Maintain activities of Switching/Active Cabinets/Transmission/ Complex Wireless Technologies/Trunk radio/Telepower. It will also incorporate NMC, data network, radio workshop, switch data integrity, test equipment and rigging. Anuj has been with Telecom Fiji for about 30 years and has worked in Network for most part of his time with the Company. He is currently Manager Engineering Design and Estimate. Anuj has been in senior management position for the last 6 years and has previously acted as General Manager Networks. Anuj will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effectiveness of the core network platform to meet present and future customer requirements and we look forward to having him on board the Executive Management team, Mar explained.

Mr. Savenaca Tabilai has been appointed General Manager Access.  This is a  new Strategic Business Unit which will incorporate the Plan/Design/Build/Operate/Maintain activities of all Outside Plants, CDMA and simple wireless technologies, PGS, SCAD, Passive Cabinets and Distribution Points, Dispatch, Service Assignment Centre, GIS, Machinery Utilization, Cable pressurisation, Cable data integrity , Manholes, Duct Lines and poles, Cables, Copper and Fibre. Savenaca Tabilai is currently Manager Strategic Business Plan. He began his career in Telecom Fiji in 1976 as a Technical Cadet. He has worked in various sections of the Company in the 29 years that he has been with Telecom Fiji. Save has played an intergral role in the Change Management Team, driving the Buried Treasure project, which is successfully being carried out in Walu Bay. Save has proven leadership and management skills and I have no doubt that he will excel at the new responsibilities that he has been tasked with, said Mar.

Telecom Fiji also announced the following appointments:

Mr. Sakeasi Seru as its Executive Manager Government Business and Rural Services. In recognition of the importance of these sectors, we have appointed Seru as the Executive Manager to spearhead the co-ordination of government projects so that we can retain and grow these sectors, Mar explained. Seru has had wide experience in marketing, start ups and network and is ideally qualified for such an important post, said Mar.

Mr. Ivan Fong has been appointed Manager Corporate Planning TFL Group. Mr. Fong has been with Telecom Fiji since 1994. He had worked his way up in the Network section to Senior Engineer Master Plans in 1997 and acted as Manager Network and Strategic Planning in 1999. Ivans skills is not limited to the Network area alone, he had a stint in the Marketing section where he acted as Manager Core Services in 1999-2000. Ivan is currently Manager Interconnect and Regulatory, a post he has held for the last four years. He has played a key role in TFLs tariff rebalancing submission to the Commerce Commission. Ivan has a flair for business development and his sense of logic is essential to deal with the challenges and complexities this role presents, explained Mar.

Telecom Fiji had also earlier announced the appointment of Mr. Samuela Vadei as its General Manager Corporate Services and Mr. Taito Tabaleka as General Manager Change Management.

I am confident that the new Telecom Fiji Executive Management Team will take Telecom Fiji to new horizons, said Mar.

The appointment of the General Manager of Telecom Fijis subsidiary, Xceed Pasifika Limited was also announced today.

Eugene Singh is now the General Manager of Xceed Pasifika Limited. Eugene Singh has been acting in this position over the past few months. Mr. Mar explained that Eugene had demonstrated leadership qualities key to the successful running of a Company that is already operating in a competitive environment.

Marika Vada has been appointed Telecom Fijis General Manager Customer Services. The GM Customer Services position takes over all functions that has to do with customer facing activities of Contact Centre, Customer Care, Operator Service, Credit Control and Billings.  Vada has been instrumental in driving some of the Change initiatives currently being undertaken in the Company. His extensive experience in his field, positive customer focussed attitude and total commitment will be instrumental in driving TFL forward, said TFLs Managing Director, Joe Mar.
