Manatua Cable launched and ready for service....posted

On 22 July, 2020, the Manatua One Polynesia Cable Project, a ground breaking fibre optic submarine cable project digitally connecting together the small islands states of the South and far Eastern Pacific (Polynesia) was announced ready for service.

The new cable spans over 3,600km and connects the islands of Rarotonga and Aitutaki in the Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa and Tahiti and Bora Bora.

While Tahiti and Samoa are already connected to the digital super highway via its Honotua Submarine cable launched in 2009, and the Tui Samoa cable launched in 2017 respectively, the island states of Cook Islands and Niue currently linked via satellites, will now have its first taste of also being connected via the fast and high capacity low latent fibre optic submarine cable.
