A PITA Telecom Networks Training is currently being planned as a dedicated technical program aimed at supporting the professional development of telecom network engineers and managers across the Pacific region. The training will focus on enhancing technical competencies, sharing best practices, and addressing emerging trends and operational challenges in modern telecom networks. It is part of PITA’s ongoing commitment to capacity building and workforce readiness in the evolving telecommunications landscape.

Spanning three days, the training aims to deliver in-depth, practical insights into current and emerging technologies shaping telecom operations, infrastructure development, and network planning.

Key Objectives include:

Strengthen Operational Expertise

Equip network engineers and managers with practical skills across connectivity, infrastructure, systems, and applications with emphasis on integration, intelligence and resilience.

Enable Strategic Readiness

Build awareness of global technology and strategy shifts—including hyperscaler influence, automation, and intelligent networks, etc.—and the impact on network skills

Promote Hands-On Learning

Deliver applied training through track-based technical sessions

Foster Technical Collaboration

Provide a platform for peer engagement, knowledge exchange, and identification of shared challenges and solutions among regional operators.

Expectations: This training is designed to support the ongoing development of critical technical skills and operational readiness across the Pacific. It is to be structured around practical and high-impact areas of telecom network planning and operations, including but not limited to the following:
– AI concepts, AI-driven networks and functions
– 5G networks and IoT applications
– Cloud-based operations and virtualisation
– Edge technologies and innovations
– Connectivity, Interconnection models and infrastructure systems
– Infrastructure design, deployment, and troubleshooting
