With the calendar year coming to a close, the Strategy Forum held at this time in November was also strategic for members to meet, to exchange information and discuss new technologies, strategy, and new opportunities.

Held at the Holiday Inn in Suva FIJI on 9-11 November 2022, there were over 120 participants that attended in person with over 30 attending online.

We are pleased with the value and opportunities brought about from this meeting as expressed to us by members, industry participants, speakers and sponsors.

With new and advanced technologies coming fast to the industry and the Pacific, members may not only have far wider choices to choose from but also difficult choices to make where great investment and paradigm shifts are needed. In addition, possible opportunities to leapfrog and bypass midway technologies should certainly be an option not to be missed if they can avoid the killer barriers to bring to market faster digital adoptions and benefits to the communities. This is where regular and specific forums like this bring values to members and to key stakeholders; already there a few talks amongst key members and players to form working groups to consider putting together essential foundations and skillsets that can support members in developing sustainable digital adoption and transformation. We are also pleased to work closely with the ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific to convene the ITU/PITA Smarts Islands forum to advance steps towards realising digital transformation at the community levels.
