PITA presented Appreciation Plaque to REDCOM

January 29, 2024

In a heartfelt ceremony held at the PITA Members Meeting at PTC24, a poignant moment unfolded as PITA bestowed an Appreciation Plaque upon REDCOM Laboratories, Inc.

The occasion not only celebrated the innovative contributions of REDCOM but also paid tribute to the legacy of its founder at PITA, the Late Mr. Klaus Gueldenpfennig.

REDCOM’s imprint on the telecommunications landscape is indelible, particularly for those who traversed the industry from the 1980s through the early 2020s.

During the earlier years with the Forum Secretariat organised meetings, the precursor of PITA and in the pioneering years of PITA, REDCOM played a pivotal role with their innovative and robust telecommunications equipment in revolutionizing communications across remote island communities.

REDCOM has helped many members transformed antiquated radio shack setups at the outer islands into sophisticated distributed telephone networks, ensuring connectivity to every islander where possible. It was a testament of partnerships committed to leaving no one unconnected in an era where rural communication was breaking grounds.

Ms. Dinah Gueldenpfennig Weisberg, taking over the leadership at REDCOM stood as the poignant representative, accepting the plaque on behalf of her late father, Mr. Klaus Gueldenpfennig, the visionary behind REDCOM.

The significance of this recognition was further underscored by the presence of former Presidents alongside the current leadership of PITA. Together, they emphasized the profound appreciation for REDCOM’s unwavering support and friendship over the years.

As the plaque exchanged hands, it symbolized more than just a token of appreciation. It embodied a legacy of innovation, perseverance, and the power of collaboration in shaping the telecommunications landscape of the Pacific Islands.
